NBC News

NBC's Brian Williams did a respectable job of presenting the night's topics in order of importance. Among the issues discussed tonight were:

-The president's plan for dealing with the economy
-The Mexican drug war
-The crash landing of Turkish Air flight 1591
-The stock market summary
-The results of a study which monitored the effects of different kinds of diets
-The possibility of a First Dog in DC
-A segment on 21 Chinese, house-hunting millionaires, who might buy US property
-The San Francisco Chronicle is on the verge of bankruptcy

The only segments which might have been better off in a different order are the last three. Perhaps a more logical, "hierarchical," flow would have been to place the Chinese house-hunters after the stock market. After the housing segment, NBC should have covered the dietary bit, saving the First Dog topic for the very end. Not only was the news about the First Dog close to irrelevant, so far as politics are concerned, there was almost no substance to it as a topic. Otherwise, NBC did a commendable job with its coverage.
